The Department of Fine Arts of Faculty of Fine Arts, Lucknow University exists since the inception of the institute in 1911 and has been one of the foremost in the field. The department has well equipped workshops and studios to work in different areas like Graphics, Mural, Ceramics besides conventional and modern materials of painting. We combine modern way of teaching along with the blend of traditional style and give emphasis on human expression and creativity. Some of the best known educationists in

the history of our country, like Dinkar Kaushik, and Sudhir Ranjan Khastgir have contributed for the Department. We were the pioneer to start the wash painting in Indian style and Lucknow wash School is famous world over one of the most significant names who emerged from here is of Frank Weslee who depicted purely Western themes in unique Indian style and was known world over. B. N. Arya introduced the contemporary style of Wash painting. The students of the department are absorbed in various teaching institutions and many are well known artists in their stream working as a free lancer. With the ever-expanding scope of fine arts the

graduates have a vast variety of area to choose from as a profession, like set designers in film industry illustrators, artists etc.

One of the highlights of the faculty is the Department. of Commercial Arts where students strive to achieve excellence in all spheres of Applied Arts, be it Advertising Design, Illustration & Photography. These three majors are offered at U.G. and P.G. level both. Students of Applied Arts are also trained in Computer graphics and graduates from here are highly placed in 2D & 3D Animation Houses. The institute has produced many students who went on to become Art Director, Creative Head or Chief Visualizers in many top-advertising agencies of India. Besides private sector, government sector has also absorbed lots of students from Department of Applied Arts. Our institute was the first in India to introduce P.G. Course in Photography in 1997 and has bagged many international awards and several scholarships and honours in last 8 batches only. It's popularity and achievements have prompted other

institutes to start the same course, however our standard is yet to be matched by others. The aim of the department is to make student well aware of the present technology and inculcate skill at par with the best in the industry.

The Department of Sculpture of Faculty of Fine Arts (College of Arts & Crafts. Lko.) is well known all lover India. It has produced some highly talented sculptors who contributed significantly the field of Fine Arts in general and sculpture in particular.

The department incorporates modern ideas with Indian sensibilities of sculpture to blend the two together and produce new concepts. We have well equipped workshops with High Temperature furnace for metal casting and modern Electrical furnace for all types of ceramic works. Conventional material like Stone carving and Bronze castings are also taught and so are the

modern methods of Fiber Casting and also other modern sculpting materials. It is a job-oriented course and students are offered jobs in Govt. & private sectors. They can also start their own workshop and work independently. Bronze Casting and Stone carving are the specialty of the department and at U.G. level special emphasis is given on developing skill in students in these branches which is further enhanced in the P. G. course. The department has taken students to such expertise that the students have bagged many national, scholarships and International awards.

Textile industry is booming with latest trends in fashion changing everyday. The students get an opportunity here to familiarize themselves with concepts of fine arts to combine it with the prevalent trends in textile industry so as to produce very different designs which are in great demand today. the emphasis here is on developing aesthetical & design sense rather than merely the technical knowhow. Student are easily absorbed in factories and can also work independently as textile designers or they can also run their own boutiques.

The course is specially meant for students aspiring to take art teaching as carrier option. The courses preferred as the basic qualification for the same.

The course has been designed to develop artistic sense in the girls who have a knack for keeping the household beautiful and artistic. The course is meant only for girls.

With the ever changing tastes of the public as well as the material used in making different furniture for office and households, new concepts are coming up. We provide adequate basic knowledge to the students choosing this field as a career.

The course concentrates on developing the skills involving Heavy Metal worksk like fabrication, etc. The students are made aware of the most modern methods and techniques.

The course is meant for students opting exquisite wood carving as a profession. The course has a vast scope for those working at furniture ware houses as expert designers and carvers.
