Brief History of Department :

The Department of Home Science was established in Lucknow University in the year 2002. It is being run as a Self-Financing Course under the rules and regulations laid down by University Grants Commission. It presently has only visiting Faculty Members. In the year 2004 the first batch passed out. Two students of first batch have successfully passed NET Examination and were inducted in Lucknow University. Many of the students are placed at various places including Schools, Colleges and Health Clubs as Dietician. The Department strives to yield excellent results under the guidance of Prof. C.P. Barthwal, the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Ex-officio Head, Department of Home Science, Lucknow University.

o change the perception of people towards the subject of Home science. The main purpose of Home Science teaching is to provide good job opportunities to its students and to make the society understand that Home Science is specialized subject in the field of Textiles, Health and Nutrition, ECCE and Extension.

The Department provides adequate research facilities to deserving candidates. Students who have qualified the NET/JRF Examination conducted by UGC are eligible to get them enrolled for Ph.D. here.
 

Major Facilities Available (Infrastructure):

  1. The Department has big and airy classrooms with proper lighting and ventilation.

  2. The Department has well equipped Practical laboratories with all the modern equipment to conduct Cookery, Bio-Chemistry and Physiology Practical.

  3. The Department has a Library having adequate reference material for all the subjects of PG and UG level.

  4. The Department has appropriate toilet and drinking water facilities for students.
