About the Institute
The Institute of Management Sciences
is a pioneering Institute in the field of modern management education. It
is the focal point for providing the input for efficient and pragmatic
approach to problem solving for improvement in the different fields of
business. The Institute is located on the second campus of the University
(near Engineering College). It is housed in a magnificent building having
adequately/ appropriately furnished class rooms and all requisite
facilities.
The continuing endeavour of IMS is to evolve itself as an Institute that
can provide skilled professionals to the industry and is also world class
not in terms of material modernity of infrastructure or size but in terms
of contextual relevance of the institution by way of contribution to the
society, growth and value-based development.
The student body of IMS is meticulously selected (through a 3-tier
entrance test at all India level) and carefully nurtured in an atmosphere
that is creative, harmonizing and yet challenging.
Management education forms
the core of higher education system in this country. Lucknow University
has been one of the pioneering institutions imparting quality management
education in this country. Keeping tune with times, this University has
again been a torch bearer for starting self-financing courses in different
sectors of management. Accordingly, it now has 13 courses at three levels
: Post Graduate, Under Graduate and Diploma.
As per the initiation of the
Government of U.P. and A.I.C.T.E., Several of these courses were approved
by A.I.C.T.E. and were subsequently brought under one administrative
control mechanism. The Institute of Management Sciences was finally
created on May 3, 2001.
IMS is established, as a Super Market of Management Courses. Each course
of the IMS shelf is super specialization in itself. It offers a variety of
courses for different sectors of the market. If MMS caters to the core
management arena, MBA(CM) has a focus for corporate sector. MBA(ME)
has a typical marketing focus and MBA(IB)
caters to
the requirements of the international business. MHRM & IR looks at the
crucial Human Resource problem and MBA(FC) has a typical appetite for
financial issues. MBA (Tourism) prepared human resource for the crucial
tourism sector.
The four undergraduate courses of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA),
Bachelor of Management Sciences (BMS), BBA (International Business) and
BBA (Tourism) provide opportunities for future preparation, attitudinal
fine tuning and personality development for higher courses, besides
providing job opportunities.
The two Diploma courses of Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Markets and
Portfolio Management (PGDFMPM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Tourism
Management (PGDTM) provide opportunities for a short focused program on a
macro-Sector.
Needless to mention that each of the above-mentioned course is a gem in
itself.
