A global perspective in terms of course structure, teaching methods, technology integration, emphasis on leadership, human values and team skills are some of the unique features of the programmes offered by the department. The educational methodology adopted at LUMBA, emphasizes conceptual understanding and development of human as well as technical skills. Exposures to practical applications and industry interaction to develop insights into contemporary industry practices. are integral parts of the curriculum. Case discussions are extensively used to develop analytical and discussion making skills of the emerging managers The objective is to develop problem solving and decision making skills in complex business situations, apply management concepts in real life situations and exhibit leadership traits. Great emphasis is laid on presentation skills of students. Organizational based studies, industry reports, Internet based assignments, and summer internship as well as comprehensive projects are facilitated. In order to foster all round development of the prospective managers, the department always promotes participation in competitions, Business club functions, and students’ magazine.

 

At LUMBA changes are occurring in the form of revised course structures, increased industry interaction, focus on management research, leadership applications, technology integration, healthy student’s & alumni involvement and career building.

 

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM:- Students of LUMBA apart from learning in classrooms also undertake various activities to learn beyond classrooms and hone their management skills.

 

XPRESS-IT - "The Marketing Club."

 

The marketing club aims to provide a cutting edge by creating a group of hardcore marketing geniuses. The main stress is on evolving new solutions and nurturing the marketing skills of students.

 

The marketing club meets regularly to organize case studies, quizzes and games, marketing research and product profile studies. BIZ - QUIZ is a regular marketing quiz based on business and management and draws a large number of students to participate in it.

 

Experts from the industry and academic world are also invited to present their views in the field of marketing.

 

BULLS AND BEARS - "The Finance Club."

 

The finance club is very active and undertakes the following activities:

 Updates in Financial Sector development

 Interactive sessions with finance executives.

 

These activities provide the student with insights into financial system. The bulls and bears keep themselves at loggerhead through discussions on current issues and help keep students informed of the changing environment in the domestic as well as world market. It also discusses the impact and interdependence of other factors on financial decisions.

 

QC9 (QUALITY CIRCLE NINE) - "The HR Club"

 

The QC9 club aims at developing the human skills of students for preparing them to give their best to the organization. To enhance the capabilities of students, it undertakes the following

PLUS:- Along with the grueling hard work, fun at LUMBA has been a way of life. Students participate in various activities like Antaragini, a youth festival held by IIT, Kanpur every year. Welcoming the new batch of students and bidding farewell to the graduating class are other occasions that students celebrate with enthusiasm and cultivate long term friendship.
