Prof. Jai Prakash Saini assumed charge as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lucknow on 14 January 2026, bringing with him more than 38 years of distinguished experience in academics, research, and university administration. A seasoned academic leader, Prof. Saini has held several prestigious positions across India’s leading institutions before joining Lucknow University.

Before joining University of Lucknow , he had served as Vice Chancellor of Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur and Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), New Delhi and additional charge of Vice Chancellor of Delhi Technological University (DTU), New Delhi for 02 years. Prof. Saini had also served as Director of erstwhile Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, New Delhi in HAG scale from 25 July, 2017 to 25th September 2018, Director, Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology for Handicapped U. P. Kanpur for two terms i.e. from July, 2009 to January, 2010 and from November, 2015 to July, 2017; and Principal of Madan Mohan Malviya Engineering College, Gorakhpur from Jan. 2010 to Dec. 2013 along with additional charge of Principal in MKREC of information Technology (now Rajkiya Engineering College), Azamgarh. Prof. Saini is a Professor of Electronics & Communication Engineering in Bundelkhand Institute of Engineering & Technology (BIET), Jhansi. Professor Saini holds B.Tech. (Electronics Engineering) in 1987 from KNIT Sultanpur, M.Tech. (Electrical Engineering) in 1996 from IIT Kanpur and Ph.D. (Electronics Engineering) in January 2001 from KNIT Sultanpur/ Dr. R.M.L Avadh University, Faizabad (Now Ayodhya). He has been a passionate teacher. Prof. Saini possesses more than 38 years of experience in academics, researches and academic administration. He was the coordinator in U. P. State Entrance Examination for two terms in 2008 and 2015 and also coordinated SEE on-line counseling from 2004 to 2008. He was additional examination Controller from January, 2001 to July 2004 in Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow. He served well for various responsibilities like head of the department for three times, Dean Research and Development, in-charge world bank assisted TEQIP project, Chairman Training and Placement, Coordinator RUSA, etc. in BIET Jhansi. Prof. Saini has served as member/Chairman of various Board of Studies, Senate, Academic Council, Research Degree Committees, Planning Boards, Board of Governors, Board of Management, Executive Council, Court General Council of various Central and State Universities/Institutions/Organisation like AKTU, Lucknow; CSJMU, Kanpur; BU, Jhansi; JMI Central University, Delhi,; MNNIT, Allahabad; DTU Delhi; NSUT New Delhi; IGDTUW Delhi; University of Delhi; JCBUST YMCA, Faridabad; GGS IPU, Delhi; REC Bijnore; REC Azamghar; REC Banda; AITH Kanpur; BIET Jhansi; HBTI Kanpur; MMMEC Gorakhpur, NIELIT GOI; BoAT GOI; NBA New Delhi, AIU New Delhi, AICTE New Delhi. He has also served as Director of Incubation & Innovation Foundation (A section 8 Company) of DTU, NSUT, MMMUT. Prof. Saini has published more than 225 research papers in International/National Journals/Conferences/Book Chapters/Patents, and supervised 33 Ph.D./M.Tech. thesis. He is reviewer in various international journals. He has He has formulated several MoUs for academic collaboration with national and international institutions and organisations. His research contributions in the area of Electronic Engineering appeared in the international journals and various conference proceedings published by Springer-Verlag, Elsevier and IEEE etc. He is life member of ISTE and fellow member in IETE. He has long standing academic interests in semiconductors, digital transmission and in mobile communication. He had delivered many lectures / keynote addresses and chaired various technical sessions during nation/international conferences and training programme. He also organized and contributed to several faculty development programs for teachers and training programs for student and officers of the government organisations.
