Known as the ‘Gateway to Commerce Education’ in India, the Faculty of Commerce has been a pioneering institution which has earned a niche for itself in academic excellence ever since its inception in 1921 A.D. With a vision for tomorrow, the Faculty of Commerce is continuing its endeavour in Research, Commerce, Applied Economics, Bussiness, Management Education, and Consultancy along with funded research projects. The Faculty of Commerce aims at upliftment of overall academic standards of both teachers and students, to make the Faculty of Commerce a centre of excellence. The Faculty of Commerce every year produces more than 300 postgraduate and 1000 under-graduate students. The Faculty of Commerce had launched several Postgraduate Management Programmes viz. Master of Bussiness Administration, Master of Management Sciences, Master of Corporate Management, Master of Finance & Control and Master of International Bussiness; in addition to undergraduate management programme viz. bachelor of Bussiness Administration, Bachelor of Management Sciences and Bachelors of Commerce (Honours). These self-financing Programmes are now run under the banner of Institute of Management Sciences.

For providing professional exposure to aspiring students, the Faculty of Commerce focusses on the 'Industry – Institution interface,’ interacts with national Associations of trade & Industry and regularly invites professionals from the corporate world to share their experience with the students. To keep pace with changing market dynamics, the Faculty of Commerce has been regularly updating the course structure of all Programmes. The Faculty of Commerce has a proud lineage of alumni who are highly placed in the public and private sectors.
